Foreign Exchange Facility for Resident/ Non-Resident
Under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (hereinafter referred as FEMA) Residents/ Non-Residents are allowed to purchase/ utilize foreign currency notes/ coins for certain specified purposes to the extent of limit prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
1. Foreign exchange facility for a person resident in India

2. Foreign exchange facility for person resident outside India

3. Miscellaneous
- No person shall take or send out of India the Indian coins which are covered by the Antique and Art Treasure Act, 1972.
Notes:
- In case of visit to Nepal or Bhutan, a person resident in India can carry Indian currency notes of denomination Rs. 500/- and/or Rs. 1,000/- up to a limit of Rs. 25,000/-. However, there is no limit on visit to Nepal or Bhutan to carry Indian currency notes of denomination Rs. 100 or below.
- A person may bring into India from Nepal or Bhutan, Indian currency notes in denomination not exceeding Rs. 100/-.
